After 114 regular season games and 14 playoff games, the Trenton Titans traded away the heart of their franchise: Jed Whitchurch. In Trenton's first ever training camp (1999/2000), the feisty center ignored critics who claimed he could never make the roster and went on to become one of the best players for the Titans' inaugural season: 22 goals (2nd best on the Titans) and 37 assists (2nd best) for 59 points (tied for 2nd) with a Titans-leading +29 plus/minus rating! During the Titans' phenomenal playoff run, Jed added 5 goals in 14 games (3rd best on the team). He was one of the first players to return for the Titans' 2000/2001 season, demonstrating his strong loyalty to the young franchise. On February 8, 2001, after he played in a franchise record 84th consecutive regular season game, the Titans traded Jed Whitchurch to the New Orleans Brass. Jed was waived by the Brass on 10/18/01 and announced his retirement the following day.
