FEBRUARY 9, 2001

The Boston Red Sox and Trenton Thunder have announced an exhibition showdown on May 21, 2001 at Waterfront Park.

SEPTEMBER 4, 2000

And you thought fireworks only went off on Independence Day? The Thunder celebrated Labor Day by lighting up opposing pitcher Ryan Mills like a Roman candle, exploding for 11 runs in the second inning en route to a 12-4 victory over New Britain. Trenton finishes their dismal season with a four game win streak while the Rock Cats end theirs with 17 consecutive losses.

SEPTEMBER 3, 2000

Luis Rodriguez's solo shot in the 6th inning helped the Thunder escape with another narrow victory over the troubled Rock Cats. The 3-2 Trenton victory handed New Britain its 16th straight loss.

SEPTEMBER 2, 2000

The Thunder posted 2 runs in the bottom of the 1st inning and clung to the lead thanks to a strong outing from pitcher Jim Dedrick. Trenton defeated the New Britain Rock Cats 2-1.

SEPTEMBER 1, 2000

Newly recalled Jason Norton pitched 7 shutout innings while the Thunder built a 5-0 lead over visiting New Britain, but Trenton errors led to 4 unearned runs in the top of the 9th inning. The Thunder held on for a narrow 5-4 victory, snapping their 6-game losing streak.

AUGUST 31, 2000

Thunder starter Justin Duchscherer pitched 6 2/3 strong innings, striking out 10 while allowing only 2 runs, but his efforts went to waste due to a defeated Thunder lineup. The Portland Sea Dogs held Trenton to just four hits during a 2-0 shutout. The loss tied the season high of six in a row for the Thunder. To salt the wounds, it was announced prior to the game that Trenton pitching ace Chris Reitsma was traded by the Boston Red Sox to the Cincinnati Reds.

AUGUST 30, 2000

Stick a fork in them: they're done! While not mathematically eliminated yet, the Thunder would need a perfect 5-0 finish while the Portland Sea Dogs would need to remain winless for the remainder of the season for the Thunder to make the playoffs. Once again, the Sea Dogs pounced on Thunder pitching en route to a 8-5 victory (Trenton's fifth consecutive loss).

AUGUST 29, 2000

Starting pitcher Rob Radlosky coughed up 8 runs in 3 innings of work as the Portland Sea Dogs pounded the Trenton Thunder 15-11. The fourth consecutive loss pushed Trenton to the edge of playoff elimination, 3 1/2 games behind the Sea Dogs for the Northern Division's final postseason berth.

AUGUST 28, 2000

The Trenton Thunder offense has grinded to a halt against the New Haven Ravens, at the worse possible time. Three runs over the last 30 innings allowed New Haven to capture three consecutive games that the Thunder desperately needed, the latest of which was a 2-0 shutout. Trenton falls to 2 1/2 games behind the 4th place Portland Sea Dogs, who now visit Waterfront Park for a three-game series. More than likely, the Thunder can bid farewell to their playoff hopes unless they can sweep Portland, however the Thunder finish the season hosting a four-game series with the New Britain Rock Cats while Portland hosts the Norwich Navigators.

AUGUST 27, 2000

Another heartbreaker for the Thunder as solo homers for Trenton and New Haven force another extra innings duel with the score tied 1-1. Once again, the Ravens emerged the victors and the Thunder fell further behind the Sea Dogs in the playoff race. The 2-1 loss dropped Trenton to a game and a half behind Portland for 4th place, and locks in a second-worse season record for the Thunder franchise.

AUGUST 26, 2000

The New Haven Ravens scored once in the bottom of the 9th to send the game into extra innings, and once in the bottom of the 11th to finish off the Thunder 3-2. Trenton has slipped back into 5th place.

AUGUST 25, 2000

The Trenton Thunder posted an impressive 6-1 road win over the New Haven Ravens to maintain the upper edge over the Portland Sea Dogs for the Northern Division's final playoff berth.

AUGUST 24, 2000

It was a comedy of errors at Waterfront Park with the Thunder posting 5 of them on the scoreboard. The Binghamton Mets rallied for 3 runs in the top of the 9th for a 5-3 win over Trenton. The Thunder maintain a half game lead on 4th place over the Portland Sea Dogs, whom they host for three games next week.

AUGUST 23, 2000

Joel Bennett allowed only 1 run and 3 hits in 8 innings of work as the Trenton Thunder slipped past the Binghamton Mets 4-3.

AUGUST 22, 2000

A pair of Trenton miscues helped the Binghamton Mets rally for five runs (four unearned) in the final two innings to defeat the Thunder 9-5.

AUGUST 21, 2000

Tony DeRosso went 3-for-4 with 4 RBI's to lead the Trenton Thunder's 9-0 pounding of the division leading Binghamton Mets. Justin Duchscherer went the distance for the shutout victory, striking out ten Mets while allowing only six hits.

AUGUST 20, 2000

Virgil Chevalier, Shea Hillenbrand, and Luis Rodriguez each went to deep for the Thunder while Nerio Rodriguez recorded a complete game in Trenton's 6-3 road victory over the Norwich Navigators.

AUGUST 19, 2000

Team Work: Trenton is back in fourth place after a 7-4 road victory over the Norwich Navigators. Six different batters drove in runs for the Thunder while five pitchers were used for the win.

AUGUST 18, 2000

The Thunder erased a 2-0 1st inning deficit to force extra innings, but a Navigators home run in the 11th inning handed Norwich the 3-2 victory over Trenton.

AUGUST 17, 2000

With a trio of runs in the top of the 9th and three more in the top of the 10th, the Trenton Thunder rallied to avoid a sweep at the hands of the New Haven Ravens. The 8-5 victory stopped a three-game Thunder skid.

AUGUST 16, 2000

New Haven is no haven for the Thunder despite a fairly strong outing from Justin Duchscherer. Trenton scored one run in the top of the 9th, but the Ravens held on to win 2-1. The Thunder fall to 2 1/2 games behind the 4th place Sea Dogs.

AUGUST 15, 2000

The New Haven Ravens delivered what could prove to be a crushing one-two punch to the Trenton Thunder's playoff hopes. In game one of the doubleheader, Juan Thomas homered twice, driving in four runs to erase a Trenton lead for a 7-5 seven-inning victory. Game two of the twinbill was a pitcher's duel that Norwich ended with one out in the bottom of the 9th inning for a 1-0 victory over the visiting Thunder. The pair of losses sunk Trenton deeper into 5th place in the Northern Division with time running out on the season.

AUGUST 14, 2000

Trenton pitchers Jim Dedrick and Andy Hazlett provided 6 shutout innings in relief of rehabbing major leaguer Bret Saberhagen (who hit three batters and yielded two runs in three innings of work). The Thunder rallied for 3 runs in the bottom of the 5th inning en route to the 3-2 victory over the Norwich Navigators.

AUGUST 13, 2000

Unable to protect a 5-4 lead after five innings of play, the Trenton Thunder fell to the visiting Norwich Navigators 6-5 and drop to 56-63 on the season.

AUGUST 12, 2000

Trenton starter Chris Reitsma had a rare rocky outing combined with Trenton errors and a strong performance from Norwich's Randy Flores for a 5-1 Navigator win over the Thunder. Trenton slips back into 5th place, a half of a game behind the Portland Sea Dogs in the fight for the Northern Division's last playoff berth.

AUGUST 11, 2000

Thunder starter Justin Duchscherer allowed only one run in 5 innings of work, but it took left fielder Mark Fischer's two-run triple in the bottom of the 8th to help Trenton find a way past the Norwich Navigators 3-1.

AUGUST 10, 2000

The Binghamton Mets are on a Ty-raid! Ty Wigginton that is. The second baseman hit 4 for 5 with a homer and six RBI's to help sink the Trenton Thunder 13-8. Wednesday's loss to Trenton certainly can't be pinned on him: he hit 4 for 4 with 2 home runs and 5 RBI's. In the three games this series, Ty has hit 9 for 12 with 3 home runs and 12 RBI's against the Thunder.

AUGUST 9, 2000

Feuled by four home runs, the Trenton Thunder outblasted the Binghamton Mets 11-9, snapping the Mets' 15-game winning streak.

AUGUST 8, 2000

AUGUST 6, 2000

Thunder pitching appears to be lost at Sea with another collapse against Portland. Trenton survived a rocky start from Justin Duchscherer, taking a 5-5 tie into the bottom of the 8th inning, but the Sea Dogs pounced on reliever Fernando DeLaCruz for an 11-5 victory. With the win, the Sea Dogs recapture fourth place from the Thunder.

AUGUST 5, 2000

A 5-run 7th inning helped the Portland Sea Dogs rumble past the visiting Trenton Thunder 8-6.

JULY 27, 2000

Damian Sapp blasted a pair of home runs to leading the Trenton Thunder to a 9-7 seven inning victory over the Bowie BaySox, but the Thunder lost their momentum in the second game of the doubleheader and fell to Bowie 2-4 in seven innings.

JULY 18, 2000

Virgil Chevalier, Garry Maddox Jr., and Rontrez Johnson eached uncorked solo homers to lead the Trenton Thunder past the Harrisburg Senators 7-3. APRIL 28, 2000

The exhibition match between the Trenton Thunder and the Boston Red Sox scheduled for June 15th has been washed out. Major League Baseball's agreement with the players' union limits the number of consecutive game days to 20, which would have been surpassed by a full week without using June 15th for a break. There is no plan to reschedule the exhibition event for this season.
